"Corporal Zoe Alleyne, 57th." Zoe bellowed to be heard over the explosions around them. She heard a strange noise, similar to a low, quiet whistle, then her eyes widened when she looked down at her feet. "Look out!" she shouted, running to dive behind a nearby rock. When the smoke and dust cleared, Zoe could see what was left of the Sergeant - just more dust. She quickly said a prayer for him, coughing as the dust blew around her, going up her nose and choking her. Zoe gasped for breath, but still managed to pull out her gun as Alliance soldiers spotted her and started charging towards her. She heard them shouting, but her mind was focused on one thing, and one thing only - winning this war. A cold fury was visible on her face as she watched the Alliance soldiers warily, but Zoe couldn't help grinning to herself after hearing the words "xiong can sha shou," and knew they were referring to her.
When that battle was over, Zoe had shot all of the Alliance soldiers. She walked away, leaving their bodies in the dust, just as they had done to so many of her fellow Browncoats, her friends. Zoe walked through Serenity Valley, saying the old prayer from the Bible of Earth-That-Was quietly to herself. "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me." Zoe knew that this was true, that this valley was "the valley of the shadow of death." She prayed that it was the death of the Alliance, who deserved it, and not the Browncoats. She prayed at least one person in the 57th was still alive. Zoe knew who that person was. A look of determination crossed her face. "I have to find Sergeant Malcom Reynolds."

very intense... it gives Zoe a combo of the soldier and the warm, woman we know she is and can be. It shows she is not dead and lifeless para military but that she believes in a cause. Very nicely done. I have to ask the others to look it over. So, keep coming back. =)
